Disabilities panel meets Wednesday
The Mayor’s Committee on People with Disabilities meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Aging and Disability Resource Center training room, 1055 Kinoole St., Hilo. The meetings are open to the public.

Senior ID cards issued in February
The Coordinated Services for the Elderly Program of the Hawaii County Elderly Activities Division will issue senior ID cards to seniors 60 years and older from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Kailua-Kona Kmart.
The staff will also issue cards at the following locations: 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 6, Kohala CSE/Courthouse; 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 13, St. Jude’s Church, Hawaiian Ocean View Estates; 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 14, L. Yoshimatsu Senior Center, Waimea; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 15, West Hawaii Civic Center, Kailua-Kona; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 24, Yano Hall, Captain Cook; and 3 to 4 p.m. Feb. 27, Hale Hauoli Senior Center, Honokaa.

Book, media donations sought for sale
North Kohala Public Library is accepting book and media donations in anticipation of the annual Friends of North Kohala Library Book Sale scheduled for April 7. The sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kohala High School cafeteria.
Books, videos, CDs and DVDs in good condition may be dropped off at the library during any open hours. Encyclopedias will not be accepted and any textbooks must have been published within the past 10 years.
Library hours are noon to 8 p.m. Mondays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays.
Donations are tax deductible. Library staff can provide receipts for tax purposes when materials are delivered to the library.

Entertainers perform at Dragonfly Ranch
Dragonfly Ranch Healing Arts Center in Honaunau is offering a free evening of entertainment from 5 to 7 tonight. The opening act is Maya Soaringsun, the center’s resident artist and musician.
Soaringsun, a well-known songwriter and performer in her home state of North Carolina, as well as the Virgin Islands and Martha’s Vineyard, will be sharing her new music.
The featured guest performers of the evening, Life in Progress, is a symbiotic musical group of three young Hilo women: Bailey Beth Scott, Kaahele Hyde and Ydine Sandberg. The kaleidoscopic combination of guitar, ukulele and cajon will be enhanced with creative movement dance performance choreographed by Mary Chapman of Hilo.
North Carolina chef Phoenix Williams of the Dragonfly Ranch will be in charge of harvesting collard greens from the organic garden, designing a Southern-flavored gourmet feast of shrimp grits, barbecue chicken, black-eyed peas and cornbread for the Dragonfly Healthy Fine Dining Dinner Club. Club members are invited to assist with this educational healthy meal to be served after the performance. Those interested in the meal are asked to make a reservation and financial contribution. The center is a drug-free zone and doesn’t encourage the use of alcohol.

Kona Masons meet Wednesday
Kona Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons meets Wednesday at the Kona Masonic Center, 73-5577 Kauhola St., No. 7, Kailua-Kona. Activities begin with a dinner in a honor of Valentine’s Day for members and spouses at 6 p.m. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Dessert will be available after the meeting.
