A whine taster remarks
It was fortunate I read the Jan. 17th letters column before I read the comics, since I could fully appreciate a true comedian, Mr. Robinson.
His letter captivated me, as he obviously meant for us to laugh at his overblown, mean-spirited letter as it unfolded like one of those corpse flowers at the zoo — the overpowering smell was breath-taking.
Having watched from the sidelines as selfless volunteers donated their time to make a difference, I can now say that the whine coming from this letter was fermented by a fellow who knows the importance of fundraising. Let’s all get a fundraiser going to buy some cheese for this guy’s whine.

Pahoehoe Beach Park
Landscaping needs care, attention
Pahoehoe Beach has historically been inundated by high surf. It was literally someplace to park along Alii Drive and watch the ocean.
Concerned citizens, along with a prominent landscape architect, overhauled Pahoehoe Beach and transformed it into a welcoming beach park.
There are no restroom facilities but two portable toilets, a drinking fountain and shower. It is not the lack of conveniences that draw park users but the ambiance.
Unfortunately, we must not have the funds or manpower to trim coconuts in a timely manner, “hat rack” mature beach heliotropes and provide minimum maintenance to the seashore paspalum lawn.
The lawn was treated for wiregrass infestation but seems to have issues with not receiving adequate irrigation.
It is said the “squeaky wheel” receives the attention. Considering we are one county, we must have resources to provide professional work at our deserved beach park and facilities.
