Blue Sea Artisans celebrating 2 years

The Blue Sea Artisans welcomes the public to its second anniversary being held in the Chinese calendar’s Year of the Dragon. The artists welcome the public to a pupu party from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday where the public can meet the artists and talk story.

Also starting this year, the artists cooperative will be opening space for pottery studio time.

Classes offered include Gail Yasin teaching gouache painting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 28; watercolor workshop with Maya Sorum, Feb. 18; Shannon Thompson, beading class, Feb. 25; and Cathie Amelott, beading workshop, March 31.

Kona Music Society seeking singers

Artistic Director Susan Duprey and the Kona Music Society invite all interested singers to its open house rehearsal from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kealakehe Intermediate School band room.

The repertoire for the spring concert scheduled for May 20 is the Big Island premiere of Morten Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna” and, in preparation for its tour to Europe this summer, song selections from Hawaii, the mainland and Europe. Rehearsals take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.
