Miller teaching metal tooling basics

Liz Miller will teach metal tooling basics from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus, 19-4074 Old Volcano Road in Volcano Village.

In this introductory class, participants will learn how to create metal bas-relief art work in 36-gauge aluminum. At the end of the class, students will have a finished product to hang on the wall. After experimenting with various wooden and other embossing tools to create surface textures, participants will learn the process of creating an overall composition of one’s choosing (realistic or abstract).

For participants who have taken the basics class and want to take it to the next level, an advanced class will follow.

The class fee is $65 plus $10 for materials with member discounts and financial aid available. Advance registration required by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
