Hawaii Preparatory Academy has received a $70,000 grant from the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation.
The grant was used to purchase two buses that will transport students to their many off-campus activities.
“This generous grant by the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation could not come at a more opportune time,” said Headmaster Lindsay R. Barnes Jr. “The grant will contribute greatly to the safety of our student transportation operations and enhance our educational program as we offer our young people opportunities to participate in many events and activities around the island on a weekly basis.”
First Hawaiian Bank and its Foundation have a long history of supporting Hawaii Preparatory Academy; the first gift of $26,000 was presented to the school in 1957. First Hawaiian Bank and its Foundation have provided consistent support to many regular Hawaii Prep events over the years, such as the annual headmaster’s golf tournament and biennial scholarship auction. Since 1989, the bank and its foundation’s overall contributions to the school have exceeded $250,000.
