Galaxy education forum offered at space center

The International Lunar Observatory Association (ILOA) is launching 2012 with Galaxy Forum Hawaii — Kona at the Onizuka Space Center from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 21. Forum participants and associated schools will receive free copies of the revised 2012 Edition ILOA Galaxy 21st Century Education Poster. Discussions will focus on how to best support teachers/schools/students in their efforts to achieve excellence for Hawaii in 21st Century Education.

The event will also feature space curator Nancy Tashima presenting on the educational resources, programs and materials available through the Onizuka Space Center to Hawaii teachers, schools and the general public.

As the ILOA looks upward to the stars and forward to the future, the group asks for community participation and guidance in helping to achieve the highest standards of excellence in Hawaii education, enterprise and exploration. Hawaii cultural practitioner Koa Rice references the pre-eminence of Hawaii education during the time of King Kalakaua in reminding communities that people need to help keiki “realize they can strive and be anything they want to be, following in the footsteps of our ancestors.”

To join the special galaxy education gathering, RSVP to info@iloa.org or 885-3474. The event is free and open to the public.

The ILOA is an interglobal enterprise incorporated as a nonprofit in Hawaii to advance human knowledge of the galaxy and cosmos through observation from the moon, and supporting lunar base build-out.
