Players union is not the answer

A union is a large-tool solution for workers who share common interests and injustices. It only seems like the right tool and remedy for NCAA athletes, until you start weighing whether it would actually create more economic opportunities and more benefits for more players, than it would destroy. It’s the wrong tool for this job.

Solemn tributes mark Boston Marathon bombing

BOSTON — Survivors, first responders and relatives of those killed in the Boston Marathon bombing marked the anniversary Tuesday with tributes that combined sorrow over the loss of innocent victims with pride over the city’s resilience in the face of a terror attack.

Watson, Spieth tied for Masters lead after three rounds

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Both golfers who will be in the final pairing of a suddenly scintillating Masters have been through all of this Augusta on Sunday excitement before. Bubba Watson did it in 2012, when he won the green jacket in a playoff. And Jordan Spieth did it often in his imagination while practicing putts as a little kid — which was not all that long ago.

Lady Vulcans split twinbill

Kaylie Drew hit a two-run home run and Colleen Aubrey followed with a solo shot to lead the University of Hawaii at Hilo to a 3-2 win over Hawaii Pacific University in the first game of a twinbill Saturday.
