The University of Hawaii at Hilo women’s golf team finished 12th out of 16 teams Tuesday at the Lady Rattlers Roundup in San Antonio.
Kacie Harada’s 4-over 76 was the Vulcans’ best round at their spring opener. The junior finished in a tie for 19th place at 14-over 158.
Tarleton State’s Isabell Jimenez-Perea (73) retained her first-round lead and took medalist honors at 2-under. The TexAnns (20-over 596) finished 19 strokes ahead of St. Edwards to win the team title.
Also contributing to UH-Hilo’s 661 total were Erika Morihiro (80-86, tie for 49th), Nyssa Aoki (85-82, T54), Kristen Sawada (84-86, T60) and Shannon Abarra (86-90, T72).
Competing as an individual, Jade Salvador (77-86) tied for 43rd.
Meanwhile, the men’s team tees off this morning at Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of Oahu.
The Vulcans and BYU-Hawaii are the only Division II teams in a field that includes top-ranked California, which is going for its third straight title, No. 4 New Mexico and tournament host Hawaii.
The three-round tournament continues through Friday.
