KS-Hawaii sweeps water polo in Kona
Chloe Martins-Keliihoomalu scored seven goals over two matches at Kona Community Aquatic Center, and Halia Nahale-a netted a pair of hat tricks Saturday as Kamehameha-Hawaii remained undefeated in Big Island Interscholastic Federation water polo.
The Warriors got goals from nine different players in a 19-4 victory against Konawaena, then Sydney Plunkett (five goals) and Martins-Keliihoomalu (four) along with a strong defensive effort powered Kamehameha to a 16-1 victory in a matchup with Kealakehe.
In the last , Paula Imoto added two goals, and Cassidy Fratinardo and Michelle Fratinardo also scored for the three-time defending league champion Warriors (4-0).
Mehana Pilago scored her fourth goal of the season for the Waveriders (1-2).
Katie Andrade collected a hat trick for the Wildcats (0-3), but in addition to Nahale-a and Martins-Keliihoomalu, Hoea Makaike also had a three-goal game as Kamehameha spread the wealth. Anuhea Leite-AhYo, Alyssa Pelanca, Michele Fratinardo and Cassidy Fratinardo scored two goals apiece, and Pua Wong and Shola Kahiapo also contributed scores.
Kaulana Ruedy also found the mark for Konawaena.
Results of matches between Waiakea-Hawaii Prep, Hilo-Kealakahe, Hilo-Hawaii Prep, and Waiakea-Konawaena were not available.
Plunkett leads the Warriors with 18 goals this season, while Nahale-a has 12.
