HILO — Hawaii Pacific beat the University of Hawaii at Hilo 7-0 and 4-2 in a pair of nonconference games at Wong Stadium on Friday, extending UH-Hilo’s losing skid to six games and sweeping the four-game series.
In Game 2, Keenan Nishioka hit a two-run single to cut HPU’s lead to 3-2 in the fourth, but the Vulcans never caught up.
Gavin Kinoshita took the loss. He allowed three runs in four innings.
In Game 1, Tre Haliburton-Goeas and Matthew Minnich combined on a two-hitter in the 7-0 win.
Jeremy Dela Cruz gave up three runs, one unearned, on five hits and three walks, and he struck out two while suffering the loss.
