Crnic helps HPA drill Honokaa at home

Jovan Crnic scored 18 points as Hawaii Prep won its second straight game at home, beating Honokaa 61-39 Saturday in a Big Island Interscholastic Federation boys basketball game.

Leading 24-13 at halftime, Ka Makani (3-2) put the game away by outscoring the Dragons (3-2) 17-7 in the third quarter.

Honokaa’s Isaiah Meyer also scored 18 points.

In the junior varsity game, Shyrome Batin scored 22 points to lead Honokaa to a 45-36 victory.

Colin Yates paced HPA with 18 points.

Konawaena 74, Kohala 53: At Kapaau, Jonah Bredeson scored 20 points, Nicks Mims added 17, and Brenton Shropshire scored 13 to lead the Division I Wildcats (5-0).

Justin Agbayani scored 17 points, Cameron Caravalho-Chinen scored 11, and Mikala Jordan had 10 to lead the Division II Cowboys (3-2).

In the JV game, Konawaena topped Kohala 49-29.

Kevin Medeiros led the Wildcats with 22 points.

Kainalu Emeliano-Solomon led the Cowboys with nine.

Waiakea 41, Keaau 38: Dillon Rellez scored a game-high 17 points, and Maikai Gahan added nine as the host Warriors improved to 5-1.

Sean Stone led the Cougars (3-3) with 11 points.

In the JV game, Waiakea defeated Keaau 53-35.
