Contract for a Warrior

Kealakehe senior David Fangupo, middle, signs a National Letter of Intent to play football at the University of Hawaii Friday at Kealakehe High as Fangupo’s mother, Sikuka Tuivailala, right, and Kealakehe principal Wil Murakami look on. On Feb. 5, the 6-foot-2, 348-pound Fangupo spoke with Warriors coach Norm Chow and verbally committed to play football at Hawaii after Chow offered Fangupo a full-ride scholarship. Fangupo officially declared his intent to play at Hawaii by signing his letter of intent. Fangupo, who has played on the offensive and defensive lines during his high school career, ran for 538 yards and 10 touchdowns as a fullback last fall, helping a 10-2 Kealakehe team win its third consecutive Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division I title.
