Kai Opua practice schedule set

Kai Opua Canoe Club has scheduled opening practice sessions for the upcoming regatta season.

The first girls practice will take place at 4 p.m. Monday, with novice A and novice B women practices following at 4:30 p.m. The first boys session is set for 4 p.m. Tuesday. All practices will take place at Kamakahonu Beach.

Initial practices for other divisions are listed below:

c Novice B men: 4:30 p.m. March 26

c Open, age division women: 5:15 p.m. April 1

c Open, novice A, age division men: 5:15 p.m. April 2

Roller derby bout Saturday in Waimea

The Waimea Wranglers Rough Rollers will host Kailua-Kona’s Echo City Knockouts in a women’s roller derby bout at 6 p.m. Saturday at Honokaa’s Parks and Recreation complex.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., with Domino’s pizza, snacks and refreshments available for purchase. For tickets ($5 for adults and $1 for children age 10 and under), visit Domino’s Pizza in Waimea, the Coaches Corner (Honokaa) or Without Boundaries (Waimea), or purchase them from any Waimea Wrangler team member.

Keauhou Canoe Club recreational races Saturday

Keauhou Canoe Club will host its Kuuipo OC1/OC2 and Kauikeaouli Festival Recreational OC6 Challenge races Saturday.

The Kuuipo OC1/OC2 long-course race will start at Honokohau Harbor and finish at Keauhou Bay, and the short-course race will start and finish at Keauhou Bay. Registration for both races will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the races will start at 9:30 a.m.

The Kauikeaouli Festival Recreational Challenge OC6 course will start and finish at Keauhou Bay. This race is limited to recreational paddlers only. An experienced HCRA paddler may only serve as the steersman. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the race starts at 8 a.m.
