Use our green waste to fill cavities along roads

Has anyone thought of eliminating some of Kona’s waste problems by using green waste to fill in the deep cavities along Route 160 on either side of the road between Kealakekua Bay and Honaunau? As it decomposes, it would create a wider road or at least “shoulders” and it just requires trucking and creating labor jobs for unskilled laborers. I created an acre of flat land on a ranch in California by this method — filling in the holes and called it earth sculpturing.

Gays deserve same marriage rights

Of course gay people deserve the same right to marriage as anyone else. People who deny this right on a biblical basis are just not thinking. No one gets his morals from the Old Testament unless he also supports slavery, forbids pork and insists upon the death penalty for anyone working on the Sabbath.

On the other hand, our well-meaning governor should just relax and get the law changed during the normal legislative meeting at the beginning of the year. Otherwise, he will just inflame the bigots and waste valuable taxpayer money.

UN should be acting on Syria, not just US

Any time a country uses chemical weapons against anyone, it’s a war against humanity and it should be a national concern. Why does Obama have to make the decision along with the English? The U.N. should be convening to make the ultimate decision. The U.S. shouldn’t have to stand alone.
