A shame that editor is gone
I wish to add my voice to the chorus lamenting the layoff/firing/whatever of Reed Flickinger from his longtime position as editor of this newspaper. He has been the conscience of our community, courageously telling eloquent truths in print that many of us either couldn’t or wouldn’t say aloud for a wide variety of reasons. Another valuable community service he performed was providing generous coverage for educational institutions and nonprofit organizations, which have few or no publicity funds in their budgets.
Fortunately, this newspaper still employs several sharp young staff writers. But without Reed at the helm, the newsroom is rudderless. Please right the editorial ship: bring him back because he is the one among us who knows, better anyone else, how to speak for us.
