Joseph “J” Walter Conner, 71, of Hilo died Sept. 27, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Detroit, he was the owner of The Home Place furniture store and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Oct. 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

James McGivern Jr.

James “JJ” Kendall Kaeo McGivern Jr., 27, of Paauilo died Sept. 13, 2013, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born May 28, 1986, in Hilo, he was a laborer and finish carpenter apprentice.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Oct. 11 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa, for a 10 a.m. Mass. Cremation follows. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Ethel Kauhi

Ethel Adela Kaniho Kauhi, 80, of Waimea died Sept. 11, 2013, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Kukuihaele, she was a retired sales clerk for the former McInerny in Waikoloa.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 12 at Imiola Congregational Church in Waimea for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Salvador Libarios Jr.

Salvador “Salva” Mauna Libarios Jr., 56, of Kealakekua died Sept. 24, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 30, 1957, in Kealakekua, he worked at Hawaiian Airlines, Kona Village, Yamaguchi Bus Company, Alu Like and the Salvation Army, was a youth counselor, a former baseball and football coach for Konawaena High School, and member of KHK, Da Braddahs Softball Club, St. Paul’s Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Oct. 12 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church hall in Honalo for a celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sisters, Leaticia (Alfred) Baltero and Gina Depontes, both of Kealakekua, Stephanie (Mike Gaspar) Libarios of Kainaliu, Valencia (Thomas) Kam, Estelle Deguair, Loveyann (Hamana) Ventura and Celeste (Mark) Aukai, all of Kailua-Kona; brother, Dominic (Walt Huckins) Libarios of Pukalani, Maui; hanai son, Dawson (Courtney Cho) Leorna of Kealakekua; one hanai grandson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alan Haruo “Waldo” Unoki, 54, of Pepeekeo died Sept. 19, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a truck driver with Kulana Foods.

James Pai

James G. A. Pai, 77, of Kailua, Oahu, died Sept. 14, 2013, at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Feb. 8, 1936, in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaiian Telephone Co. operation center manager and a retired captain with the Hawaii Army National Guard.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Oct. 14 at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary on Oahu for a 6:30 p.m. service. A committal service begins at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 15 at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl). Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Genevieve Pai of Kailua, Oahu; son, Lambert Pai of Kailua, Oahu; daughter, Carlene (Ralph) Nakata of Kailua, Oahu; six grandchildren; sister, Harriet Brott of San Francisco; brother, John Pai of Hilo.

Fumiko Aoki

Fumiko Aoki, 98, of Hilo died Sept. 13, 2013, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born March 7, 1915, in Pepeekeo, she was a housewife and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary offerings.

She is survived by sons, George (Sharon) Aoki of Honolulu, Wayne Aoki of Kapolei, Oahu; daughters, Arlene (Wayne) Honda of Honolulu, Phyllis (Harry) Yoshiki of Honaunau; brothers, Giichi (Yvonne) Moriwaki of Chicago, Haruo (Sue) Moriwaki and Tokumo (Gladys) Moriwaki, both of Honolulu, Hatsumi Moriwaki of Hilo; sisters, Kikuno Goh of Santa Ana, Calif., Robert (Kay) Blakeney of San Diego; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
