Gwendolyn Leilani Lake, 56, of Kealakekua, died Feb. 18, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 21, 1956, in Kealakekua, she was a housewife, classroom cleaner and child supervisor at Naalehu and Konawaena schools, and member of the Kaahumanu Society and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Friends may call 6 p.m. March 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Keei Ward in Honaunau for a 7 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. March 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ka’u Ward in Naalehu for a 10 a.m. funeral service, followed by burial in the Naalehu County Cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by husband, Clinton Lake of Kealakekua; brothers, Nelson (Bernita) Kaupu of Ocean View, Milton (Kimberly) Kaupu of Waimea, Kelly (Tina) Kaupu of Ocean View, Henry Kaupu of Honolulu; sister, Hattie (Mike) Kaupu-Hawkins of Ocean View; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
