Edward “Waldo” Martinez, 89, of Keaau died Jan. 29, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 18, 1923, in Pepeekeo, he was a retired manager for the former Hawaii Armor Oil Co., an ASE mechanic for the former HT & T, a World War II Army veteran and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo, for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by daughters, Dolores (Chucky Sr.) Oliveira of Keaau, Loretta (Leonard Sr.) Naboa of Kona, Corianne Remeliik of North Carolina, Ella Lopez of Hilo, Cornelia Christoph of Oregonm Tanya Christoph of Pahoa; son, Ronald Christoph of Puna; brothers, George Martins and Ronald Martinez, both of Hilo, Dennis Martinez of Honolulu; sisters, Margie Donato of Puna, Alice Vares of Honolulu; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
