Douglas Alfiler

Douglas “Doug” Mario Alfiler, 61, of Camas and Spanaway, Wash., died Oct. 19 at home. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was the owner of the Hawaiian Express in Camas, Wash.; a former employee for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and United Airlines Flight Kitchen in Portland, Ore.; and a shuttle driver for the Oregon Zoo.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Alfilers’ residence in Paauilo for a celebration of his life. Scattering of his ashes will be held at a later date. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by daughters, Kim (Paul) Gerlack of Camas, Wash., Tiana (Manju) Mayachar of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Ryan Alfiler of Oahu; mother, Mary Alfiler of Paauilo; brothers, Mariano (Joyce) Alfiler Jr. of Papaaloa, Harold (Carmen) Alfiler of Honokaa; sisters, Eleanor Gonsalves of Hilo, Vickie (Richard) Jonet of East Wenatchee, Wash., Bessie Alfiler of Paauilo; six grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
