David Phillip Paiva, 85, of Hilo, died Jan. 12, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 9, 1927, in Hilo, he was the former proprietor of Aloha Taxi, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Friends may call 9 a.m. Jan. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Eileen Paiva, of Hilo; daughter, Tricia Paiva, of Hilo; son, Robert (Maribeth) Paiva, of Aiea, Oahu; brother, Antone Paiva, of Farmington Hills, Mich.; uncle, August Nascimento, of Hawaii Kai, Oahu; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
