Coling “Reuben” Jacob Mandaquit, 76, Kailua-Kona died Jan. 7 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kahaluu on April 2, 1936, he was a houseman at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows and the former Kona Lagoon Hotel, bellman at the King Kamehameha Hotel, a plumber at the Kona Village Resort, purchasing agent and bus person at the former Keauhou Beach Hotel, maintenanceman at the Kona Inn Shopping Center, van driver for Budget Rent A Car, yardman at Kalaoa Elementary School, grocery stocker at Matsuyama Stores and Puna Plantation Hawaii, KTA Super Stores, cashier and stocker for the former Kona Food Mart and a night cleaner for the former Ranch House and a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Jan. 26 at Solid Rock Ministries at 75-5660 Kopiko St. in Kailua-Kona for viewing , followed by a funeral service; burial will follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. The family requests that casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Mandaquit of Kailua-Kona; son, Coling (Sandy Tomaselli) Mandaquit, Jr., of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters, Ruby Ann (Frank) Souza of Kalaoa, Corina (Hiram Alapai) Mandaquit of Kalaoa; brothers, Arthur (Cheryl) Mandaquit of Kailua-Kona, Kamuela (Bambi) Wong, James Wong, Jimmy (Susan You) Wong, all of Oahu, Bernard (Frances) Vasquez of Hilo, Thomas (Mattie) Baldovino of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Robert Baladonado of Deland, Fla., Genaro (Judy) Quison of Kailua-Kona, Donicio (Conchita) Quison of Kohala, Anthony (Mona) Florendo of Waianae, Oahu, Marcelo (Ann) Mandaquit of Hilo, Clyde (Linda) Mandaquit of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Edna Keliikuli of Oahu, Winifred Arnold of Garden Grove, Calif., Shirley (Robert) Schmitz of San Francisco, Calif., Margie Strong of Maui, Clairmont (Kenneth) Keliiaa of Seattle, Wash., Ethel Coleman of Maui, Sylvia Cariaga of Kapolei, Oahu, Phyllis (Louis) Malasig of Kohala; sister-in-law, Rosie Vasquez of Wahiawa, Oahu; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
