Clarence A. Andrade, 73, of Pahala, died on March 11, 2013, at his residence. Born on Dec. 29, 1939, in Pahala, he was a retired building and maintenance worker for the county Department of Parks and Recreation, a mechanic and bulldozer operator for Ka’u Andrade Contracting Inc., an Army National Guard veteran, and Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church member.
Friends may call April 13 at the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where visitation will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and a memorial Mass begins at 10 a.m. An urn committal will follow at the Pahala Catholic Cemetery, with a gathering and celebration of his life at the Pahala Community Center. The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Jewel Waltjen Andrade of Pahala; daughters, Ioni Ann Andrade of Mt. View, Debra (Roland) Rodriquez of San Antonio, Texas, Tammy (Daryl) Andrade of Waimea, Yvette (John) Ikawa of Hilo, Terry-Lee (Dane) Shibuya of Naalehu, Kellie (Brandon) Harada of Honolulu; son, Destry Andrade of Pahala; brothers, Ronald (Kapua) Andrade of Hilo, Walter (Mary Jane) Andrade of Naalehu, Gilbert Andrade, Dennis Andrade of Pahala; sisters, Rachel (Richard) Johansen of Naalehu, Diane (Gary) Lumanlan of Mountain View, Elsie Moses of Pahala; hanai sons, Byron Andrade Ah-Hee of Hilo, Dane M. Shibuya Jr. of Naalehu; hanai daughter, Tiare Shibuya of Naalehu; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
