Betty Abe

Betty Shizue Abe, 75, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 14, 2013, at her residence. Born on Feb. 8, 1937, in Paauhau, Honokaa, she was a sales clerk at the former Liberty House and Macy’s stores. She was known for her orchids that she raised and sold at KTA Keauhou Store. She was a member of Kailua-Shita Kumiai and Daifukuji Soto Mission.

Private services were held.

She is survived by sons, Nathan (Michele) Abe of Kailua-Kona, Michael (Kathleen) Abe of Kailua-Kona, David (Tomomi) Abe of Nagoya, Japan; companion, Clifford Tanoue of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Herbert Hirayama of Honokaa, Clayton (Sherilyn) Hirayama of California; sisters, Kay Nishimura of California, Alma (Daniel) Fujikawa of Pearl City, Oahu, Sharon (Robert) Costa of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
