Police warn public of magazine scam

Police are warning the public that companies posing as door-to-door magazine salesmen are scamming the public and stealing their personal information.

The salesman says he is selling the magazines to benefit a local high school, get points for college or for cancer research. The individual then obtains personal information from the buyers and uses this information fraudulently and the magazines that the buyers order never arrive.

Some of the names the company has been using include: Frontline Communications LLC, HP Consulting and MD Network.

They originated in Colorado where they have been fined $1 million.

If you have encountered these individuals and need to make a police report, call the Police Department’s nonemergency number at 935-3311.
