DUI Convictions March 4 to 21

Jeremy Johnathon Pilgrim, 34, of Ka‘u pleaded no contest March 4 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $437 in fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. He must also serve an unspecified amount of jail time and his license was revoked.

Jeffrey M. Bartels, 38, of Kona pleaded no contest March 7 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $437 in fees, in addition to an undisclosed fine, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

Justin A. Gines, 19, of Kona pleaded no contest March 7 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant while under age 21. He was sentenced to pay $487 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course and ordered to complete a 10-hour alcohol abuse education and counseling program.

Mark Anthony Nofchissey, 33, of Arizona pleaded guilty March 7 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $937 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

Keahi Farden Robins, 56, of Kona pleaded no contest March 7 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $437 in fees, in addition to an undisclosed fine, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

Jacob Deleon-Meloche, 24, of Kona pleaded guilty Feb. 1 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant and on March 7 pleaded guilty to failure to have no-fault motor vehicle insurance. He was sentenced Feb. 1 for the DUI to pay $412 in fees, in addition to an undisclosed fine, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. He was sentenced March 7 for the vehicle insurance infraction to pay $47 in fees and perform an unspecified number of community service hours. His license was also suspended.

Jarod Dixon, 33, of Kona pleaded no contest March 7 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant and driving with an improper license. He was sentenced to pay $324 in fines and fees, in addition to an undisclosed fine, referred to a driver’s education course and ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment. He must also perform an unspecified number of community service hours.

Kaikapono B. Benson, 41, of Kailua-Kona pleaded no contest March 11 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $937 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

Levi Daniel Gonzales, 23, of Kailua-Kona pleaded no contest March 11 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant and driving after his license was suspended for a prior driving under the influence conviction. He was sentenced to pay $474 in fees, in addition to an undisclosed fine, referred to a driver’s education course and ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment. He must also serve an unspecified amount of jail time and his license as revoked.

Kele B.S. Smith, 20, of Kailua-Kona pleaded no contest March 11 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant and driving with an improper license. Smith was sentenced to pay $824 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

Shawn Michael Young, 35, of Kona pleaded no contest March 11 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant and inattention to driving. He was sentenced to pay $724 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

Klay Brian Bensch, 29, of Kailua-Kona pleaded no contest March 14 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He was sentenced to pay $874 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

Timothy W. Bieler, 33, of Holualoa pleaded guilty March 14 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $437 in fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. He must also perform an unspecified number of community service hours.

Bulla Allen Lepen, 32, of Honolulu pleaded guilty March 14 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant, driving with an improper license and failure to have no fault insurance. He was sentenced to pay $511 in fees, in addition to an undisclosed fine, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. He must also serve an unspecified amount of jail time and his license was revoked.

Bulla Allen Lepen, 32, of Honolulu pleaded guilty March 14 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant, driving without a valid license, failure to have no fault insurance and inattention to driving. He was sentenced to pay $1,058 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. He must also serve an unspecified amount of jail time and his license was revoked.

He must also perform an unspecified number of community service hours.

Rodney K. Kamaka Jr., 43, of Kailua-Kona pleaded no contest March 15 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant, driving with improper license, failure to have no-fault motor vehicle insurance, consuming or possessing and intoxicating liquor while operating a motor vehicle and having false certificates on a vehicle. He was sentenced to pay $585 in fees, in addition to two undisclosed fines, referred to a driver’s education course and ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment. He must also serve an unspecified amount of jail time and his license was revoked.

Donald J. Payne, 48, of Captain Cook pleaded no contest March 18 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $937 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.
