The Hawaii County Police Department is advising drivers to avoid Highway 19 in Waimea near mile markers 55 and 56 because of an accident. One lane of traffic is closed because of a vehicle crash near the Hawaiian Homes Hall and a detour will be in effect until approximately noon.
