VAC sets Christmas in Country

Volcano Art Center will hold its 13th annual Christmas in the Country celebration featuring handmade holiday gifts and special events from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Nov. 17 through 25. The annual Invitational Wreath Exhibit begins Nov. 17 and runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Jan. 6.

Related events include:

c Kani Lea Ma Kilauea Ukulele Band will perform as part of the festivities, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

c Christmas in the Country begins with a members-only preview party from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 at the gallery. For more information or to join, visit volcanoartcenter.org.

c Artists Kathy Long and Jelena Clay will visit the center’s gallery from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17. Long will sign her prints while Clay leads a demonstration on creative ornament and wreath-making using gourds.

c Dietrich Varez will hold a book and print signing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at the gallery.

c Christmas in the Country expands to the Rainforest Gallery at Niaulani from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 23 through 25. Handmade ikebana from center artists will be on display and available for purchase.

c Caren Loebel-Fried offers book and print signing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 23 at the gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Loebel-Fried will demonstrate her process and have original and giclee images available for purchase.

c Tom Peek will sign copies of his novel, “Daughters of Fire,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 24. The book will be available for purchase at the gallery event.

c Varez will return to the gallery from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 25 to personalize books and prints.
