Scouts try their hands at Olympic sports

The theme of a recent two-day Cub Scout Day Camp was “Cub Olympics.” Boys from 7 to 10 years, or first to fifth grade, are eligiable to join the Cub Scouts.

The boys from West Hawaii gathered at Higashihara Park and participated in a variety of races, archery and BB gun shooting. An early morning rain did not dampen their spirits as they learned some new skills and honed others. Day two includes more events at Konawaena High School, including swimming at the pool.

Boys may participate in Scouting through age 20. A coed program is available to youth from 14 through 20. For more information, call the Boy Scouts of America, Aloha Council at 959-0079.
