The Kailua Village Artists Gallery is inviting the public to a grand reopening reception from 4 to 7 p.m. today at its new location at the Kona Marketplace on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona. The organization, a cooperative gallery for more than 25 years, is celebrating with the works of featured artists Gay Jensen and Linda Savell. Light pupu will be served.
Jensen began painting in oils. When she moved to Hawaii in 1981, she started painting in watercolors. Her original wall art and prints depict a wide range of tropical flowers and birds, sunsets, landscapes and sea life. Jensen also creates unique designs on handmade paper featuring Hawaiian petroglyphs and hula dancers.
Savell’s pottery creations include elegant vessels, functional ware and a series of fish incorporating harmony of form, patterns and colors finished in different types of glazes. She also crafts necklaces with pendants and earrings made with dichroic glass.
The gallery is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 329-6653.
