What was once a bustling sugar cane industry and processing mill around the turn of the century is now home to gated communities of upscale homes. Nestled on the slopes of Mount Hualalai, what is commonly referred to as “old guava lane,” a herd of cattle graze oblivious to the passing cars where the railroad used to cross a tressel to bring its load of sugar cane to and from the mill.
