Kilauea Drama and Entertainment Network announces the cast of its production of Dan Goggin’s musical comedy, “Nunsense.”
Playing the part of Sister Mary Regina is Kathy Frankovic, who has been in a number of Palace Theater productions. Sister Mary Hubert, Sister Robert Anne and Sister Mary Amnesia will be played by Stephanie Becher, Erin Gallagher and Cristina Hussey, respectively. This trio played the step-family in the organization’s production of “Cinderella.” Rounding out the cast as Sister Leo is Corey Yester, who starred as Marian the Librarian in the Palace’s “Music Man.”
“Nunsense” begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, accidentally killed the other 52 residents of the convent with her tainted vichyssoise. Mother Superior is told in a vision to start a greeting card company to raise funds for the burials, but there is not enough money in the kitty to pay for the burials. With their deceased sisters on ice, the nuns stage a variety show fundraiser in the Mount Saint Helen’s School auditorium. The entertainment they present features solo star turns, madcap dance routines and an audience quiz.
Directed by Suzi Bond, with musical direction by Pedro Kaawaloa, the show runs Feb. 8 to 24 at Kilauea Military Camp’s Kilauea Theater. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
