Art mimics natural world in Waimea

The Waimea Arts Council’s Firehouse Gallery is presenting an exhibit featuring “Patterns and Textures” from Wednesday through Aug. 2.

Waimea Arts Council members have been invited to present their offerings depicting all manner of pattern and texture, as found in the natural world, manufactured objects or at the whimsy of the imagination. All media will be represented, including photographs and textiles, as well as the fibers and flora within our environs, and those rendered in wet and dry applications of pigments.

The Firehouse Gallery is located in Waimea at 67-1201 Mamalahoa Highway. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, subject to the availability of docents. Free parking is available in the lot behind the gallery. For more information, call 887-1052, visit or find the gallery on Facebook for more information about the arts council and coming exhibitions.
