‘Words and Wine’ slated for Tuesday at Kona Stories
Angela Sherwood, Kirk Lee Aeder and the Writers Support Group from Tutu’s House are the featured authors for August’s “Words and Wine” event planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kona Stories Book Shop in the Keauhou Shopping Center. The public is invited to meet the authors and enjoy pupu and wine at this free event.
Sherwood recently published her first novel, “Virgin,” inspired by her experience as a patient advocate in a busy northern Virginia emergency room. Charlie Meadows, a 24-year-old virgin, reluctantly takes a position at Cedars hospital and thinks she may have met the answer to her pesky little problem.
Aeder’s “Child of the Storm” is a true story that recounts the tumultuous life and incredible surfing of his close friend Chris O’Rourke. In the 1970s, O’Rourke rapidly became one of the best surfers in the world, in spite of the dark cloud of family turmoil that swirled around him.
The Writers Support Group at Tutu’s House is a collection of accomplished and aspiring writers. Each Tuesday, the fluctuating membership assembles at Tutu’s House in Waimea to read bits and pieces of their efforts and to receive gentle analysis and encouragement. Their book, “Coconuts and Pearls 2012,” is a collection of works from that group.
The event begins with an informal meet and greet merging into a more formal book presentation from the authors and concludes after a question and answer session.
