Disabilities panel meets Wednesday

The mayor’s Committee on People with Disabilities meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Aging and Disability Resource Center Training Room, 1055 Kinoole St., Hilo.

Cardiologist to speak Wednesday

The Kona Hospital Foundation begins a new informal lecture series with a presentation by Dr. Andrew Rosenblum from Maui Heart and Vascular Clinic from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Community Meeting Hale at the West Hawaii Civic Center. Lectures will be scheduled quarterly and are free and open to the public.

Rosenblum is a noninvasive cardiologist with training in cardiac ultrasound and arrhythmia management. He sees patients weekly at the MHV-Kona Clinic at Kona Community Hospital. Rosenblum will speak about cardiovascular disease.

Seniors ‘Treasures Sale’ slated Wednesday

Kailua-Kona Seniors meet for the members’ yearly Treasures Sale on Wednesday. The public sale begins at 9 a.m. on the front lawn of Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. Items will be priced to sell.

All-cancer support group meets Thursday

You’ll Never Walk Alone, a cancer support group, meets from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Cancer survivors and co-survivors are invited to attend the group’s free meetings held the first and third Thursdays of each month; light refreshments are served.

Caregiving program set for Thursday in Waimea

North Hawaii Hospice and North Hawaii Community Hospital present Caregiving 101: Knowing the Basics When It’s Time to Help beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Parker School auditorium. The program will feature information booths and a discussion panel offering practical advice and community resource information for those who are or may become caregivers for friends and family members.

Kealakehe High council meets Thursday

Kealakehe High School’s Community Council meets from 5:15 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the school’s staff cafeteria dining room.

The group will discuss items including the school’s electronic use policy and dress standards.
