Big Island police have arrested a 23-year-old Hilo woman in connection with a robbery Thursday morning in downtown Hilo.
Shortly after noon, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at 11:50 a.m. at a business at the corner of Keawe Street and Furneaux Lane, according to the Hawaii Police Department. There, a 33-year-old female employee reported being approached by a woman who displayed a handgun and demanded cash before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money. She was seen driving away in a white pickup truck.
Using a license plate number from the truck, police were able to identify the driver as 23-year-old Tia Nohealani Menino, who was arrested in connection with the reported robbery about 12:30 p.m. on Makaala Street, according to police.
She is being held at the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.
