Tsunami warning/watch issued

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu has issued a regional tsunami warning and watch for parts of the Pacific.

The center said that a magnitude 8.0 earthquake struck about 3:12 p.m. in waters off the Santa Cruz Islands. The earliest time waves could reach Hawaii is estimated at 10:04 p.m.

An evaluation of the Pacific-wide threat is under way. West Hawaii Today will provide more information as it comes available.
