Police ID man in connection with fatal stabbing in Puna


Big Island police have identified a man arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing Tuesday afternoon in the Eden Roc subdivision of Puna.

The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old David True Seal of Mountain View, according to the Hawaii County Police Department. He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations continue the investigation.

Police responded about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a stabbing on Pilo Street in the Eden Roc subdivision. Upon their arrival, they found an unresponsive 32-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to police. He was pronounced dead at 11:11 p.m.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to police.
