No tsunami triggered by earthquake off central Chile

No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-6.6 earthquake that struck Thursday afternoon off the coast of central Chile.

The earthquake hit at 1:04 p.m. Hawaii time, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake’s depth was registered at about 6.2 miles.
