The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a high surf advisory for Big Island shores through 8 p.m. today.
The service forecast waves ranging from 5 to 8 feet.
A high surf advisory means high surf could affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion, according to the service.
