The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a flash food watch for Hawaii Island through this afternoon.
The service forecast that an unstable air mass will continue to fuel localized heavy showers. The service also noted that thunderstorms are possible.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that could lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is possible even if it is not raining where you are, according to the service.
Residents and visitors are urged to void camping or hiking near streams in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
