Rizzuto brought Kona to the desert

I live on the U.S. mainland in the Arizona desert and have had the great experience of fishing the grounds off Kona a few times. Sadly, I just found out that Rizzuto has passed away.

I have a friend who has been sending me Rizzuto’s column for years, and the clippings are a way for me to return to that very special patch of ocean in my daydreams. His words have allowed me to fly thousands of miles and work one of those huge reels to bring in gamefish, even though I was stuck here in the desert.

Thank you, Mr. Rizzuto, for bringing the fishing experience to myself and countless others who enjoy fishing for the most exciting fish on the planet.

Let’s hope the paper can find another person to do a column like Rizutto’s!

Green sweeps mean green to burn

Hawaii’s and our county’s fiscal situation and budget shortfalls have been solved! Or, they at least seem to be. How else could the state and County of Hawaii afford to spend tens of thousands of dollars to fly helicopters over the Big Island in search of pot growers?

Additionally, all criminals with outstanding warrants must have been apprehended and unsolved crimes must have been solved in order for them to have the manpower available to root out those awful pot growers — I guess?

So, now that we seem to have plenty of money to burn, rooting out a substance that will soon be available in stores, maybe our teachers can finally get a salary they can live on, pension obligations can be met, the roads can be fixed and taxes reduced. Utopia at last!
