We stand for respectfulness
Thank you, Linda Hale, for so eloquently expressing what so many women feel following this presidential campaign. Women, as “nurturers of society” as you point out and especially of our children, are the teachers of the importance of truth (and not “alternative facts”).
I am truly shocked that Dottie Duncan doesn’t consider the lack of truth during this campaign truly ‘“disgusting” as well. How a person behaves matters. We raise our children to be respectful and contributing citizens to our great democratic nation. We must insist on the truth even if it isn’t consistent with what we wish it to be.
As the 84-year-old daughter of a journalist who always insisted on the truth, I am proud of the women, men and children who marched around the world in support of women’s rights and issues. The use of the expression “alternative facts” is Orwellian/fascistic speak. I refuse to be gaslighted.
And I am proud to stand up for respectfulness, civility and the truth.

Kudos to clean-up
This past Sunday I was riding my bicycle on Ane Keohokaloe Road and encountered a group of young people doing a litter clean-up. As I rode by, I thanked a few of them.
As I continued my ride and returned, I noted they had not just picked up the obvious and easy to collect items. They picked up everything! They clearly were intent on doing their absolute best. So I am writing to say thank you to all of them, for their caring about the environment and keeping the island beautiful.
I can only hope the people who deposited this litter, will read this and think twice before littering again.

Working with terrorists not legal
Instead of the media asking why did Tulsi meet with Assad, they should be asking themselves and our other members of Congress this question: Why do they support the U.S. arming al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups who are trying to overthrow Assad?
It’s considered treason and a grave criminal act for us regular people to work with terrorists. So why do so many people in the media, along with our Congressional leaders, think it’s just fine and dandy for the U.S. government to arm terrorists in Syria?
