I was enjoying the column by Dennis Gregory Jan. 12 about Kelii Akina. Excellent column and wonderful message. Until the last paragraph. Close to the end of his column, Dennis tells us Akina’s message is “E Hana Kakou — let’s work together! It’s time to stop dividing people and start uniting them.
Only by putting aside our political, ethnic, religious and other differences, can we create the Hawaii our keiki deserve.” The fact that Mr. Akina is for the TMT says it all. Yet because Dennis is obviously against TMT, he ends with “I said he was great, I didn’t say he was perfect.”
That statement couldn’t be more wrong. I would say Kelii Akina is perfect and I hope everyone on this island will take his message to heart. For our island.

Trumpspeak too funny
I think I need to keep this column on Trumpspeak Jan. 13 for future reference so I can see what “step” PE-DJT soon-to-be POTUS is on.
Knowing this just might keep my frustration down! At the very least keep my sense of humor going.

Hold on there, Ms. Campbell
I am writing in response to the opinion article published Jan. 8 by university teacher Susan Campbell. Ms. Campbell joins a long list of chronic crybabies still whining about the election. If you haven’t heard enough of the moaning just tune into the cackling crows on The View or the latest comments from Hollyweed.
Ms. Campbell uses fear to rally her troops to march against President-elect Donald Trump by insisting he will take women back to the Stone Age. She points out Mr. Trump’s unacceptable behavior while having no recollection of conduct by the Clintons. Remember Bill Clinton’s sexual proclivities, escape from military service, Bill and Hillary’s “Whitewater” real estate scandal and “Pay for play” Clinton Foundation? Ms. Campbell goes on to call Mr. Trump a “hater” for his concern and caution of Muslims. Should we repeat the mistakes made in France, Germany and Belgian?
Ms. Campbell cleverly lumped together equal pay for women and reproductive health rights in her op-ed. She did get us nodding our heads. I ask you, what woman doesn’t want equal pay?
But hold on there. The path taken by reproductive health is another story. I don’t believe our kupuna would have marched for partial birth abortion. Although many agreed legal abortion and reproductive services were needed; no one foresaw abortion evolving to no limits depravity. All thanks to lawsuits filed by Planned Parenthood and others.
Ms. Campbell warns Trump supporters to fear her movement. Ms. Campbell, we don’t fear you because we’ve already won. How about instead of fighting against each other we find ways to be reasonable and reach across the aisle?
