Luana Chow

Luana Piilani Willis Chow, 76, of Honokaa, died June 8, 2017, at home. Born July 17, 1940, in Honolulu, she was a former housekeeper for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and the Hilton Waikoloa Village, member of the Hawaiian Club and a former member of the Kaahumanu Women’s Society.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. on July 15 for a celebration of life at Kahilu Town Hall in Waimea. Graveside committal service will be held at 9 a.m. on July 17 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Dondale Hoover, of Hilo; daughters, Nylyne (Boysey) Paulo and Henrietta (Lawrence) Lorenzo, both of Honokaa, and Catherine (J.J.) Chow, of Kohala; hanai daughter, Pua (Ranch) Nobriga, of Waimea; brothers, Llewelyn (Loke) Kapela and Rodney (Georgette) Willis, both of Kailua-Kona, and Allen Willis of Oah; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Daniel Johnasen

Daniel “Kaniala” aka Johansen Johnasen, 87, of Kurtistown, died June 18, 2017, at home. Born March 19, 1930, in Kapapala Ranch, Ka’u, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for highway construction and a member of the Sure Foundation Church in Keaau.

Friends may call at 4:30 on July 15 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. on July 20 at Mililani Memorial Park (Makai Chapel) on Oahu for a 10 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Miliani Memorial Park Cemetery

He is survived by wife, Emmaline Johnasen, of Kohala; sons, Dean (Adelina) Johnasen, of Waianae, Oahu, Dale (Joann Carineo) Johnasen, of Kurtistown, Dwayne (Kim) Johnasen, of Wahiawa, Oahu, and Dane (Wendy) Johnasen, of Kapolei, Oahu; hanai son, Alfred (Raeleen) Yadao, of Pahoa; daughter, Derede Johnasen, of Mountain View; sister, Abbie Nery of Honolulu; brother, Richard (Rachel) Johansen, of Naalehu; 16 grandchildren;13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
