Alvin Kaio
Alvin “Inky” Kekolo Kaio, 59, of Keopu, Kona, was born in Koolauloa, Oahu. An earlier obituary incorrectly identified his birth site.

Gertrudis Antonio
Gertrudis Sanchez Antonio, 108, of Pepeekeo died Feb. 17, 2015. Born in the Philippines, she retired as a seamstress and part owner of AC Service Station. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 5 at Ballard Family Mortuary, 570 Kinoole St. in Hilo, for a 10 a.m. service.
She is survived by sons, Alexander (Kathleen) Antonio, Quirino (Audrie) Antonio Jr., both of Hilo; daughter, Stella (Roberto) Garza of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Velma Muraoka
Velma Kaumekekoi Kanekoa (Batalona) Muraoka, 68, of Honokaa died Feb. 22, 2015, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Waipio Valley, she was a retired resident manager and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honokaa Ward.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. March 6 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honokaa Ward. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. March 7 at the church for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at Kukuihaele County Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by daughter, Dana-Jenee (James) Kaaekuahiwi of Honokaa; brothers, Joseph Batalona Sr. of Honokaa, Kaai (Grace Charles) Batalona of Waipio Valley, Eric (Barbara) Ford of Kona, Dean (Haleloke) Ford of Mililani, Oahu; sisters, Clytie Wong of Nanakuli, Oahu, Lani (Bert) Shibata of Waipio Valley, Matilda Mason of Ocean View, Aloha Dela Rosa of Haina, Honokaa, KrisAnn Batalona of Hilo; three grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert Rapoza
Robert Stanley Rapoza, 76, of Hilo died Feb. 14, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 5, 1938, in Olaa, he was a Merchant Marine.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. March 6 at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo (Ilima Section). Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.
He is survived by sisters, Deolinda Ah Fong of Hilo, Janet Silva of Keaau, Elsie House of Leavenworth, Kan., Cecelia Fields of Seattle; brother, George (June) Rapoza of Wahiawa, Oahu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Louis Bolos Jr.
Louis “JR” Delmundo Bolos Jr., 60, of Keaau died Feb. 7, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a commercial fisherman, boat builder and the owner of JR’s Fencing.

James Kailiawa, 68, of Pahala died Feb. 1, 2015, at his residence. Born April 5, 1946, in Pahala, he was a retired truck driver for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Shirley Pelland
Shirley Ann “Whirley Bird” Pelland, 69, of Ocean View died Feb. 20, 2015, at her home. Born Nov. 3, 1945, in Phoenix, she was a seamstress, skier, surfer, skydiver and member of the Ocean View Garden Club.
A celebration of life will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 7 at the Ocean View Community Center in Ocean View. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by son, Raymond (Darlyne) Pelland IV of Kailua-Kona; sister, Sharyn (Safford) Chamberlain of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, hanai grandchildren and hanai great-grandchildren.
