Yoshikazu Suenobu

Yoshikazu Suenobu, 86, of Pahala died Feb. 21, 2017, at his residence. Born in Puna, he was a retired high school science teacher at Ka‘u High School, taught at the former Waiakea Kai School, was a member of the Naalehu United Methodist Church,a former scout master and an Army veteran during the Korean War.

Visitation will take place from 9–10 a.m. March 21 at the Naalehu United Methodist Church with a 10 a.m. service. Burial will be at noon March 22 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Joyce Suenobu of Pahala; son, Andrew (Yumiko) Suenobu of Honolulu; sister, Anne Shino of Sandy, Utah; numerous nieces and nephews.

Matsuko Asuka

Matsuko Asuka, 97, died Feb. 25, 2017. She was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Hilo.

Private services were held. The family requests no koden.

She is survived by son, Dennis (Ray-Lynn) Kawasaka of Honolulu; daughters, Carol (Aaron) Ikeda of Kealakekua and Sandra (Wayne) Matsuda of Wailuku, seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Glenna Barnett

Glenna Mae Barnett, 86 of Pahoa died March 8, 2017, at her residence. Born in Waterfalls, S.D., she was a retired welder.

Private services held.

She is survived by daughters, Judy Segobia of California, Carrie Barnett of Missouri; sons, Donald Barnett of Texas, William Barnett of Pahoa, Larry Barnett of Texas, Gary Barnett of California; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
