Patrick Vasquez

Patrick Lodrigues Vasquez, 70, of Kealakekua, died Oct. 17, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 21, 1947, in Honolulu, he was an operations assistant at the ARC of Kona and music minister at St. John’s Catholic Church and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kealakekua with prayer service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church at 8 a.m. Nov. 18. Mass will begin at 9 a.m.

He is survived by his mother, Esquiela Vasquez of Kealakekua; brothers, Rodney (Susan) Vasquez of Kailua-Kona, Dexter Vasquez of Ewa, Oahu, Jonathan (Tawon) Vasquez of Illinois, and Vaughn (Regie) Vasquez of Kealakekua; sisters, Augustina Mercado of Kaneohe, Oahu, Pamela (Craig) Camello of Kailua-Kona, Carmelyn (Noren) Nagamine of Los Angeles; one sister-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chasen Quihano Juan

Chasen Kamauliola-wehiwaonakupuna Quihano Juan, 20 months old, of Pahoa, died Oct. 24, 2017, at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu. He was born Feb. 16, 2016, in San Diego.

Friends may call for visitation 5-6 p.m. Nov. 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pahoa; prayer service at 6:15 p.m. Friends may call again for visitation from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 at the church; service at 10 a.m. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed. Cremation at Dodo Mortuary Crematory.

He is survived by father and mother, Glenn Juan and Chasity Quihano of Ainaloa; brother, Chad-Bryant Bartolome of Ainaloa; sister, Chanet Juan of Ainaloa; paternal grandmother, Soledad Juan of Keaau; maternal grandfather and grandmother, Thompson and Sherylanne Quihano of Kalapana; maternal great-grandfather, Thompson Quihano of Kalapana; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Francis Segundo

Francis Segundo, 69, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 26, 2017, at his residence. Born Aug. 5, 1948, in Honolulu, he was a state Department of Public Safety adult corrections officer, cane truck driver for the former Ka’u Agribusiness, and a U.S. Army veteran.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Nov. 16 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire.

He is survived by his daughters, Natasha (Matthew) Paio of Kailua-Kona, Jennifer Segundo of Naalehu, and Selena Segundo of Kailua-Kona; mother, Florence Segundo of Oahu; brothers, Leslie Segundo and Randy Segundo of Honolulu; sisters, June Segundo-DeFeo and Norma (Nelson) Ganeku of Oahu; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ramon Rodero

Ramon “Sugar” Rodero, 85, of Hilo, died Oct. 20, 2017, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born April 6, 1932, in Hilo, he retired from Hilo Sugar Co. and Hilo Coast Processing Co., was a college certified volleyball and softball referee and umpire and was a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard.

Friends may call 8-10 a.m. Nov. 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. Mass. Aloha attire and flowers are welcomed. An urn committal will be held at 11:15 a.m. at Homelani Memorial Park (Section 1) with military honors.

He is survived by daughters, Ramona (Alfred) Pestrello and Robin Rodero of Hilo; step-daughters, U’ilani (Karen) Jerrils-Gomez, Christine (Noel) Namahoe-Loo and Une Namahoe of Hilo; brothers, Albert Rodero of Puna, Richard (Beryl) Rodero of Hilo and Alex Rodero of Oahu; sisters, Lorraine (Vernon) Rodero-Inouye and Vivian (Dominador) Coloma of Hilo, Anita Rodero of San Francisco, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Frank Greenwell

Frank “Peter” Russell Greenwell, 78, of Honokohau, died Oct. 14, 2017, at his residence. Born in 1939 in Kealakekua, he was the owner of Honolulu Equipment Co., and owned and managed real estate holding company Robert F. Greenwell Co., LP.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 18 at Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to UCLA Cancer Oncology Department “Art of the Brain,” Kona Historical Society, or Christ Church Episcopal.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Adamson Greenwell of Honokohau; sons, Michael Greenwell of Florida, and Kevin (Christine) Greenwell of Honolulu; daughters, Kimberly (Aaron) Evans of Honokohau, and Lisa (Mark) Hummel of Kaloko; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
