Learn how effective EOs are in helping to manage everyday health concerns naturally. The group will get creative with the oils’ many uses during the do-it-yourself portion of class. No experience is necessary. The journey begins with peppermint and lavender.

    Waimea Monthly Book Club will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 with Michele Chavez-Pardini. This month the group will discuss “A Man Called Ove,” a novel by Fredrik Backman about a curmudgeon who hides a terrible personal loss beneath a cranky and short-tempered exterior while clashing with his new neighbors, a boisterous family whose chattiness and habits lead to unexpected friendship. Participants are responsible for obtaining their own copy of each month’s book. Bring a pupu to share.

    Yoga Basics is from 8 to 9 a.m. every Monday with Janet Lam. Start your week with a smile, feeling balanced, flexible and strong. Although not specifically a beginner’s class, the movement sequence can easily accommodate students new to yoga or returning to a yoga practice.

    Beginner’s Yoga will be offered from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6 &13 with Kiyomi Falcon, RYT, LMT. Yoga has both preventive and therapeutic benefits. It increases body awareness, relieves chronic stress patterns and muscle strain, relaxes mind and body, centers attention, sharpens concentration and frees the spirit. Meditation is also incorporated into this class.

    Chair Yoga from 9:30-10:15 a.m. every Friday, with Michiko Sato. This class is for those who need a gentle and slow yoga-in-a-chair practice. The movements are designed to stretch and strengthen the body without standing or lying on the mat, and may include some easy standing poses behind the chair.

It’s a great way to retain and expand vocabulary, spelling, memory and observation skills in a congenial atmosphere.

    Overeaters Anonymous is 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday. OA is a fellowship of individuals who are recovering from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors. There are no dues or fees and OA welcomes anyone who wishes to stop eating compulsively. Through the support and tools of OA, many have recovered from yo-yo dieting, binging and sugar addiction, to name a few.
