WAIMEA — On Thursday, Community Police Officer May Lee led more than 30 local children in a Hawaii Isle Police Activities League project to plant a new pumpkin patch in Waimea. Located behind Red Water Café, pumpkins grown there will be sold at a Waimea Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival on Oct. 14 at the Waimea District Park Complex.

Starbucks, Domino’s, Pau and KTA donated pizzas, sandwiches, salad, chicken, juice and brownies to feed the hungry group that day.

Held previously at Hawaii Preparatory Academy, the pumpkin patch festival is now run by Waimea Preservation Association. The charity event will benefit multiple nonprofits.
