Maryanne Gonsalves, 61, of Hilo, died July 31, 2014, at a care home. Born July 5, 1953, in Hilo, she was a participant with the Goodwill program.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may call again at 10 a.m. Aug. 22 at the mortuary for an 11 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by aunts, Clara Gonsalves, of Honolulu, and Christine Mattos, of Hilo; uncle, Manuel Gonsalves, of Oregon; God mother, Dolly Pagan, of Hilo; caregivers, Grace and Paul Andres, of Hilo; numerous cousins.

Alfonso Labiano

Alfonso Ayonayon Labiano Sr., 96, of Pahoa died Aug. 9, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 18, 1918, in San Clemente Tarlac, Philippines, he was a retired laborer for Puna Sugar Plantation and a member of the Church of Christ – Iglesia Ni Cristo in Keaau.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 Dodo Mortuary chapel for a visitation. Friends may call again from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Aug. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a visitation. Burial will be held at 9 a.m. at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sons, Alfonso (Florence) Labiano Jr. of Las Vegas, Winston (Joji) Labiano of Pahoa, Mario (Armi) Labiano and Nelson Labiano, both of Kona; daughters, Carmelita (Froilan) Tabilas of Palm Springs, Calif., Remedios Labiano of Pahoa, Mercy (Sam Butler) Paterakis of Hilo, Imelda (Glen) Lasala of Philippines; 36 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

Clarence Kahele

Clarence “Spida” “Boy” Noa Kahele, 69, of Hilo, died July 27, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born May 26, 1945, in Hilo.

Charlene Andresen

Charlene Fay Andresen, 55, of Pahoa died July 17, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 13, 1959, in Oregon, she was a waitress.

She is survived by sons, Joshua Baughman and Justin Baughman; mother, Theresa Baughman; sisters, Diane Myers and LaDonna Privratsky.

Murray Pratt

Murray A. Pratt, 89, of Papaikou died Aug. 3, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born April 22, 1925, in Crawfordsville, Ark., he was a former minister and member of the Wainaku and Marshallese Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was also a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Wainaku Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 455 Kulana Rd. in Paukaa for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by children, Judy Pratt of Brooklyn, N.Y., Auffa Pratt of Brooklyn, N.Y., Alexander Pratt of Hammond, Ind., Christopher Pratt of Papaikou and Jonathan Pratt of Tacoma, Wash.; brother, Roy (Beverly) Pratt of Gary, Ind.; grandchildren, Alexander Pratt and Xavier Pratt.

Thomas Segovia Sr.

Thomas Luis Segovia, Sr., 78, of Waimea died July 27, 2014, at the family residence in Enchanted Lakes, Oahu. Born in Kakaako, Oahu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and welder.

Friends may call at noon Aug. 24 at the Honokohau Harbor Clubhouse Pavilion for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn. Loose flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Patricia Segovia; sons, Thomas (Nina) Segovia Jr., Harold (Kaniu) Segovia, Timmy (Therisa) Segovia and Rocky (Willie) Lominario; daughters, Hazy Adames, Roberta (Darrell) Aguiar, Selma Wana and Christine (Richard Salinas) Lominario; hanai daughter, Matty (Wayne) Cazimero; brother, Fred Segovia; sisters, Barbara DeCambra and Emily Segobia; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Manuel Marques

Manuel “Moon” Marques, 92, of Pahala died Aug. 5, 2014, at his residence. Born March 31, 1922, at Pahala Portuguese Camp, he was a retired crane operator and harvesting foreman with 50 years of service at Ka’u Sugar Plantation Company. He was also the owner and operator of Naalehu Macadamia Nut Farm and a member of Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Aug. 23 at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sons, Manuel (Debra-Lyn) Marques III of Naalehu, Raymond (Jessie) Marques, Francis (Trinidad) Marques and Paris (Keona Paaluhi) all of Pahala, Elliot (Melissa) Marques of Nevada; daughters, Judith (Clement Chang) Ogata and Lyndell Queja, both of Pahala, Glennis (Stephanie Fitzpatrick) Marques of Honolulu and Claudell (Ronnie Guevara) Yamaguchi of Naalehu; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chiyoko Mizoshiri

Chiyoko Mizoshiri, 85, of Kailua-Kona died July 15, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 16, 1928, in Hilo, she was a homemaker. Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary offerings.

She is survived by sons, Glenn Mizoshiri of Kealakekua, Dane Mizoshiri of Honolulu, Brian (Lori Ann) Mizoshiri of Waipahu, Oahu; brother, Ralph Honda of San Jose, Calif.; sisters, Edith Bradway of Downey, Calif, Hazel Miyahira of Gardena, Calif.; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph Santos

Joseph Victor “Joe” Santos, 88, of Honokaa died Aug. 12, 2014, at his residence. Born on July 28, 1926, in Honokaa, he was employed by Hamakua Sugar Plantation, worked as a plumber at Sea Life Park in Oahu and for Dough &Delace Company. He also was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Aug. 23 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn. Burial will be held at Honokaa Catholic Cemetery.

He is survived by wife, Bernice Santos of Honokaa; son, Joseph Santos of Papaaloa; daughter, Barbara (Eugene) Valencia of Laupahoehoe; step daughter, Bernadette Ku of Wailuku, Maui; brother, James Santos of Pahoa; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Gregory

James Francis Gregory, 90, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 14, 2014, at his residence. Born on July 22, 1924, in Chicago, he was a retired real estate broker, a decorated U.S. Army war hero who fought in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II and was a recipient of two Silver Stars, two Purple Hearts, and Bronze Stars.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 22 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona for a graveside service and burial with military honors.

He is survived by wife, Joyce Gregory of Kailua-Kona; sons, Jeffrey Gregory of Stuart, Fla., J. Douglas Gregory of Hilo, Stuart Gregory of Mountain View, and Craig Schade of Heber City, Utah; daughter, Wendy Hewlett of Maui; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece.

Harlan Kalles

Brother Harlan Edward Kalles, 86, of Hilo died Aug. 2, 2014, at home. Born in Payallup, Wash., he was the senior pastor at Family Christian Center in Hilo.

Friends may call from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 24 at Family Christian Center for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Alae Cemetery. The family requests aloha attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

He is survived by daughters, Debbie (Pastor Rusty) Fields of Keaau; Kimi (Frank) Wehrsig of Hilo, Tina (Harold) Fujii of Keaau; son, Shawn Kalles of Vancouver, Wash.; sister, Harriet Smallwood of Spanaway, Wash.; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
